Punched and sparkled birthday cupcake

Good morning!  Have you all been busy with the Dirty Girl challenges?  I have been meaning to keep up...but daily life is getting in the way!  Anyhow...here is a card that I combined a few challenges on DTGD11juliemlacey, DTGD11Kitty747, DTGD11dini, DTGD11AndreaEwen
I started by embossing a kraft card front and placed over my pink card base.  I stamped a Lockhart daisy cupcake stamp using PTI white ink and then coloured with Copic markers.  I added glitter to the daisy centers for some added sprinkled sparkle.  I used a Spellbinder circle die, cut out and then another larger one and cut out a pink circle, mounted onto a MS doily.  I created a border using a wide EK Success punch used on a kraft strip and layered onto a SU scallop pink punched strip.  The little paper flowers were created with SU punches and I added pink rhinestones to the centers.
That's it for this morning...have to run some errands now and meet a friend for lunch.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Tissue Box Hen

The Moxie Fab World blog has a tissue contest going on...Here is a card that I made for the challenge.  This is my Moxie Fab hen tissue box get well card :)
I started by stamping these darling Lockhart images and coloured with Copic markers.  I placed a slit on the hen's back and crumpled a little triangle of kraft coloured tissue...voila~ a tissue box with a little greeting that I made on the computer.  The paper is K and Co. and I used some vanilla seam binding to make a simple knot in for the top of the card.  I hope to make another card for this challenge as I think tissue is such a great element to work with.
Thanks for taking a peek...have you made a card for this challenge yet?

Easter chick wreath

Here's a quick card for this morning,
I embossed the PTI Aqua Mist cs, added a panel of this new Stella Rose "Mabel"  paper with a layered cotton lace.  I used a Spellbinder blossom die and stamped a MemoryBox wreath in PTI true black.  I stamped this cute Lockhart chick and coloured with Copic markers and then used a Spellbinder circle die to cut out.  Placed dimensional foam on the back and adhered to the wreath shape, added a resin flower from Prima.  EASY!
Thanks for visiting today,
Cheers!

Chicklet Easter Wishes

Good Monday morning and Happy Spring!  I have been playing with some more of my Easter images and made this card for a couple of challenges, CPS #107 and the Spring challenge going on at SCS.  I also used this tutorial from Tosh to create this flower.  I wanted to try it with paper and, although it's not as pretty and full as Tosh's, I still like the effect for this card.
I started by stamping this cute Lockhart chick stamp and coloured with Copics, edging the circle with a Copic also.  I used Tosh's loopy flower tutorial on a couple of strips of the October Afternoon paper and placed the stamped circle in the center of the flower.  The Label one Spellbinder die was used to anchor the flower and I added these Cosmo Cricket letters for the greeting.  I made the yellow center panel with a CB folder and then another panel underneath it with some punched MS edges.  The ivory ribbon finishes it off.
Thanks for taking a peek today,

Aqua and red Valentine

Good Monday morning!
Here's another Valentine made with these paper doilies, this time, using one of my favourite colours...aqua.  I know it's not a conventional colour theme for the big V Day, but couldn't resist!  I layered the paper doily onto the same colour card stock as the card base, stamped the Lockhart cupcake in Versamark and embossed with Aqua Zing embossing powder, coloured the cupcake top with aqua Copic and filled in the hearts with a red liquid pearls (those hearts are tiny!).  Cut out and adhered to the paper doily, added the layered SU sentiment and layered a couple of Prima paper flowers with a couple of punched hearts.
I created the side border with some scalloped border punches, lace from Ros and a May Arts polka dotted ribbon from my stash.  Another easy one!
Hope you have a great start to your week.
I have a lot of housework to do and I have to pack up and go to Montreal early next week to see my Mom.  My DD will accompany me and I feel very blessed for that.  Mom is not in good health and I will be there for at least 10 days.
Thanks for visiting,
I will be back later in the week (I hope) with some Moxie Fab challenges that I really want to do...

Hopscotch Valentine

Another Hopscotch Valentine!  Love this Basic Grey Hopscotch pad for Valentines cards, yummy colours!
I used another coloured Lockhart cupcake and this time I used Claudine Helmuth multi medium gloss on the pink hearts.  I like this effect as it gives a little dimension to them and they stand out more with the shine.  I used the end of a paper clip to apply the medium.  The punched shape is a SU punch from a while ago.
The border is layered with a wide white ric-rac length, a MS lacy borders punch and a narrow strip of the brown pattern paper.
The sentiment is an older one from SU and I used SU basic brown and added a few pink pearls to frame the hugs & kisses.
Here are a couple of close-ups.
Thanks for stopping by

Lots of Hugs

Hi there, back again with an inchie card for Ellen's inchie inkling challenge.  I chose to use black and white with red, a classic for Valentine's day.
I stamped the Lockhart Hearts cupcake and coloured with a red Copic and a Spica glitter pen, then cut out. Stamped the image again on this tiny gingham paper that I have in my stash and cut out the cupcake liner, adhered to the cupcake image and popped up on foam and layered onto the red polka dot paper circle.  This was added to the card front and I placed a Kaiser rhinestone circle frame around it.  The border layers were created with a MS punch and an EK success punch.  I stamped the Hero Arts "lots of hugs" onto white and punched out with the small MS tag punch and layered onto the same gingham.  The hearts are felt and I added a gingham brad to one of them (I have had these for years and I want to try and use something old on a lot of the cards that I make!) and left the other laying over the border and silk white ribbon.  Very simple!
Thanks for taking a peek,
lots of hugs...

Birthday SFYTT

Happy Thursday everyone!
Just a quick post before I tend to the grocery shopping...
I made this birthday card using Jen's January 2011 SFYTT
I don't have any of The Cat's Pyjamas stamps (which is a requirement to win for the month) but I wanted to make something with my new Basic Grey "Hopscotch" paper and show off this great sketch that Jen designed, so here it is :)
I also made this for the Inchie challenge going on at Ellen's, but I misread the details, so I will be back at the drawing board for this one (I was supposed to make the card with black/white and one other colour).
The stamp is a Lockhart cupcake with petunias that I coloured with my Copic markers and cut out.  I layered onto a piece of the solid blue from the Hopscotch pad cut with a PTI die and then a circle of textured pink card stock that I had in my stash.  I added some zig zag stitching at the top and bottom of the panel and some straight stitching on the solid pink panel.  The tall vertical panel was created with a MS border punch.  I added the three pink pearls for a little je ne sais quoi?.  It still looks a little sparse to me...hmmmm, I may add a flourish yet.
The sentiment is from PTI.
Hope you are having a great day,
Cheers!

Witches Night Out!

Hello again!  I am back with a couple of Halloween cards that I made today.
I am using the same stamp (Lockhart witches  dress) for both of the cards tonight but coloured with a different colour palette.
The first one is a traditional purple and green.  I used Copic markers and Spica Atyou sparkly black pen, truly sparkly in real life!

The second card was made for Lydia's challenge over at Splitcoast.  They are having challenges all month long and we are sending the cards that we make to UT MD Anderson in Houston for breast cancer patients, hence the pink!  Don't you love this witches dress in pink and black?  I paired it with the same MS spider web border punch and used Basic Grey's Porcelain line for the patterns.  The background is a CB folder called Kassies Brocade that I bought today.  I had not noticed this one before, but love the bigger size!
Hope you will be able to make some cards this month for this really wonderful cause!

Lockhart Halloween

Hi there everyone, is it feeling like Fall in your town?
The temps here in Austin have dropped about 10 degrees in both days and nights and it is actually feeling like a Fall season is upon us!
I made a couple of Halloween cards using some patterned papers from last year's stash and some current Martha Stewart papers.  Love these Fall colours and enjoying using up some of what I've got ;)

The stamps are Karen Lockhart and I purchased them at Ellen Hutson's.
The pumpkin cupcake is simply stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto SU Pumpkin, cut out and placed on a Spellbinders Label die that was cut out from a SU black cs.  I added the orange woven ric rac at the bottom and some sparkly square mosaic tiles as embellishment.  The sentiment is from Pink Paislee.

This next one uses another Lockhart withes legs and I took this close up to show you the sparkly black on her stockings, dress edge and shoes that I coloured with a black Spica atyou pen.  If you click on the pic you can see how very sparkly it really is!
I had these little silver star and moon brads that I added in the corners over the existing stamped stars and moons.

The papers are mainly this year's MS from a 6 X 6 pad.
The border is an older MS border punch that I thought resembled the dress edge.
I did some simple black zig zag stitching on the main panel.

Hope you like these and are enjoying the weather...wherever you are!
Thanks for peeking in!

Mojo geraniums Thanks!

a close-up of the geraniums :)

Hello again!  I know...two posts in a day, a little unusual for me, but I have been keeping up with the housework and thought I could spend a bit more time in the craft room.  The result of course is that I now have to tidy that room up ;)
So here is a card that I made for two challenges, Julee's Mojo 150 and Ellen's Flower Parade.
I was a little intimidated working with this sketch, but really liked how it turned out.  Oranges and aquas are some of my very favourite colours to craft with and that's what I decided to use for these two special challenges.  The paper is all Kaisercraft "Peachy Keen" and the sentiment is a Verve Thanks that was an extra inclusion from Julee in an order to me!
The geraniums are from Lockhart.  I have bought many Lockhart stamps from Ellen's shop.  I love the florals and fruit.  They are coloured with Copic markers and I did a little stitching here and there.  Pretty simple once I really looked at the sketch's curves.
You still have time to participate in either of these challenges, just click on my underlined words and they are linked to the place you will want to go to.
There are prizes involved !!!
Good luck,
Have a great afternoon and thanks to all of you that pop in and visit!

A DTGD trio

Good morning, it's Friday :)
Another DTGD card for three of the challenges,DTGD10joanervin, DTGD10AmberDawn and DTGD10leighobrien
I am using another Lockhart stamp, this pretty peony bouquet.  I stamped the image in Memento London Fog and coloured/shaded with Copic markers.  The ivory panel that the image is layered onto is textured
with a PaperTrey Ink plate and then edged with soft orange.  I added some shabby seam binding that went with the image colours and the background paper.  The fancy oval brad is from MM and has an ornate texture to it.  The dp is from a Matstack called Once upon a time from DCWV...pretty selections in this collection.
I have tried a few times and different angles to get a better pic, but have not been successful...
I hope to be back later with another card,
Thanks for taking a peek!

a DTGD plethera

Hi there!  Hope you are all well and enjoying the sights from CHA..oh I wish I was there ;)
I have a card that I made and can mark off a few more DTGD challenges.  The card is for
DTGD10tayloredexpressions, DTGD10melmel, DTGD10debdeb, DTGD10cindy_haffner DTGD10flowergal36 and a Flourish challenge, FTTC77 to use a pin.  In my case I have used a teeny clothes pin with a ladybug attached to it.  I have been hoarding these for 3 years now...so time to let a few of them fly ;)
I used this great sketch as the foundation to my card and then wanted a black/cream/red theme, so I stamped this little Lockhart geranium stamp and coloured with Copic markers.  The black and cream paper is another hoarded sheet of BG LilyKate.  The red patterned pieces are from DCWV Summer Dream Matstack.  The tag is a MS punch and the sentiment is from the PaperTrey Ink set Tea for Two Additions.
Thanks so, so much for looking!

Birthday Wishes

Hello everyone! I have been absent for a little while and have really missed my stamping and posting. I so appreciate all of the kind thoughts and comments about my mom. My sister and I found a great place for mom to live and she will get the care she needs there. I feel really good about that and we will reassess the situation as the months go by...
For my first card that I created after my return I used Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety 6 X 6 paper pad. This card was created for a dear friend that I worked with for 5 years at Smith and Hawken and it is a very rare week that we do not see each other.
I paired the CC papers with a PTI sentiment and this adorable Lockhart colander full of cherries stamp that I stamped in Memento Tuxedo black and colored with Copic markers and added some crystal effects to the cherries for a nice gloss and dimension. The border is a MS punch.
Easy Peasy, Berry Cherry!
Thanks for taking a peek!

Petunia Cupcake

Hello again! I seem to have gotten a touch of a second wind and created this card for Mojo Monday sketch #136 and, a brand new challenge

When I saw Julee's fabulous sketch, I had in mind to use my beloved little Lockhart Petunia cupcake stamp with this Basic Grey Wisteria paper...well, I created this in a Jiff!

I followed the sketch quite closely, adding my sentiment from PTI at the top of the Spellbinder Label that I used and positioned to peek out under the larger print paper. I added a MS border at the bottom and wrapped a vanilla taffeta ribbon around

the front. I popped up and layered my cupcake on a circle of the same Bazzil card stock that I used for the front of the card and then onto a blossom Spellbinder shape cut out of the same tiny print found in the 6 X 6 the Wisteria pad.

I loved how this turned out, especially since it did not take me an hour to create it!
Thanks for looking, and check out the new challenge! I have it linked above.

Orchid plant for Mom

There is another Verve release tonight with some challenges that have been going on this week. I made this card for this sketch challenge VSAPRBP2 using the Queen Bee 6 X 6 paper pad from Pink Paislee again.
My phalaenopsis stamp is from Lockhart and stamped in Memento London Fog onto a linen textured cs and coloured with Copic markers. I arranged the different patterned paper shapes according to the sketch and used an EK Success scalloped photo corner punch for the right hand "stitched" detail, as my sewing machine was sewing great nests of thread under the card! I will have to determine what needs adjusting on her.
The sentiment is from the PTI set Delightful Dahlia.
Hope you have a great Friday!

My pieced Card Patterns#58 for Mother's Day

Hi there everyone! I have made another card and this time it qualifies for two challenges, this one over on the Moxie Fab World blog and Card Patterns Sketch 58. I believe that I am on time for both of these ;)
Here is the sketch that I started with. I stamped this beautiful Lockhart stamp directly onto a thin cherry veneer wood sheet that I picked up a few weeks ago at a lovely stamp store in Salado, TX and used a Label Nestability die to frame it. I then stamped the image again onto this Crate patterned paper from the Brook collection and cut out the balls of yarn. Sponged the edges with PTI Aqua Mist ink and adhered with dimensional foam over the knitting basket image.
I added deeper colour to the knitting needles with a Spica Atyou sparkling pen and that was it for the main image.
I had tried to shade the basket with Copic markers, but due to the porous characteristics of the real wood, the "bleeding" result was not exactly what I intended, so I just left the basket as is. I guess I could have taken a Prismacolour pencil to it, but I am just thinking of that now....next time!
I used another selection from the Crate paper and made my horizontal panel, stamped the PTI sentiment from Delightful Dahlias directly onto the dp and layered it onto the solid colour, which I had used an EK Success border punch on the bottom edge.
I stamped in Ocean tides and cut out the PTI flower images from the Beautiful Blooms II set and set the bottom row of flowers onto some Crate paper circles that I punched from the sheet. The top row of flowers is on dimensional foam pieces. That's it...hope you like it!

Peachy Keen and lacy!

Hello everyone! What a great Friday this will be, it's sunny and they are promising warmer weather! That's good for me because I dug a new flower bed a couple of days ago and need to finish it before a dear friend of mine from Toronto arrives on Sunday for a week long visit. I am very anxious for her to get here! We will have other things to keep busy with ;)

So onto my card...
I created this for the Caarvarks Lacy Days challenge. Well, things are peachy keen with this card, delicate lace around the peaches and all edges of the Graphic 45 papers used are sponged with a marigold ink for a homey feel. I love this Lockhart peaches in the leafy lettuce bowl stamp. Love all of the Lockharts for the size of the image and detail. These are great to colour and shade with Copic markers.
I used some Spellbinder Nestabilities dies and all stamped images are popped up on dimensional foam.
Have a great Friday!

I will take pictures of the garden bed and post if I get to finish it today or tomorrow!

Cheers!

Life's a bowl of strawberries?

Good morning everyone, hope the weather is becoming Spring-like wherever you are.
I have been trying to catch up with Birthdays, still behind, but enjoying making all of the cards and making some extras for a few challenges. This card is for a challenge that is going on over on the MoxieFabWorld blog, the Olympics of Stamping. This is a birthday card, let's say my first fruit of the day. Another cute Lockhart fruit stamp, strawberries. I had some last night with a piece of lemon torte, YUM!
Onto the card... I stamped and then coloured with my Copics and adhered to several different shaped layers using Spellbinder Nestabilities and Cuttlebug dies. I paired it up with a red Bazzil cs, a PTI pink and a patterned and beautifully textured strawberry and vine paper from DCWV Farmer's Market. I also used a new texture plate (Tin Types) from PTI on the pink cs. The sentiment is from PTI also and the cute polka dotted oval label is a stamp label image from a set by Cindy Echtinaw that I recently purchased.
Hope you have a great day and get some stamping time in!
Cheers,
Chriss

Birthday cherries!

I have done it! All 4 of Jen del Muro's sketches complete, yay!
#3

There is a big prize at stake and you can participate here, but hurry, the deadline is this Friday the 5th.

I needed a few birthday cards, so I have been working on the Lockhart fruit images. I just really love the details in them. For today's card, I paired it with this mini patterned Jenni Bowlin 4 X 4 paper. I like the grey and cream together and the red of the cherries that I coloured with Copic markers and glazed just seem to pop, at least in real life they do!

I really like this sketch as it allows you to really highlight your stamped image. I used the circle Nestabilities and petite scalloped to frame my colander of cherries.

The background texture is a new PaperTrey "Tin Types" texture plate and it's a tad larger than our regular sized cards, and I think that's a good thing! No "border edges" if you choose to make the whole front from one card stock without another card stock border.

Here is a close up of my glazed cherries...don't they look inviting?
Here is the whole card. I haven't yet mastered bows, but I was satisfied with this one.

Thanks for looking and I hope that you are having a good week so far...
