JustRite photo inspiration

Happy Sunday all!
It's still quite a bit warm here and should remain for, well probably 'til October ;)  
I like warm weather, so I am quite ok with that.
Even though it is warm, I had to make a Christmas quilt like card for the JustRite inspiration photo challenge #30.  It has some of my favourite colours in it and I got to use my favourite right now wintery paper from MemoryBox that I purchased at Ellen Hutson's.  I will be submitting this card too for the flower parade Ellen is having because I think these octagon die cut birdie topped "flowers" are just sweet and whimsical.
If you look closely at the patterned paper, you can see that all of the colours in the inspiration photo are represented in the card.  Don't you just love that when it happens!


So, for the card I cut out one of the MemoryBox Mistletoe papers for the card front and then cut out the tiny bird print paper into a couple of squares.  The red print paper is from DCWV Once Upon a Time that I have in my collection. It compliments the MemoryBox paper well (imho).  I lined these up on a narrow strip of another paper from the MB Mistletoe collection and then just stitched across with a tiny zigzag.
To the top of this, I added a narrow silk aqua ribbon and tied a simple bow with it.
The JustRite sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo black ink (did you see that JR now sells these inks!)and I edged the deckled cut sides with a Copic marker.
The flower die is PTI and I used the SU Cherry Cobbler cs to make these and topped them with more of the MB birdie paper that I cut out with the smallest Nestability octagon die.

JustRite Hobbyhorse tag

Happy Friday to all!
Have you seen the challenge going on over at Caardvarks ?
I made this tag for it using a new JustRite stamp from the Hearts Come Home  set.  These are perfect for using as a special focal image and really easy to use for some smaller projects, like this tag.


I love this little hobbyhorse and I remember that one of my very dear friends while growing up had one from England.  It was a little shabby, but I have fond memories of it.  This stamp brought back those childhood memories.


I think this frame of lights is a really fun one to use with the hobbyhorse and together, they make for a perfect little boys tag to attach to a special gift.


Onto the actual creating of this tag...
I stamped the hobbyhorse and the frame separately with Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured with Copic markers.  I also added some crystal effects to the lightbulbs for a little glassy effect, although it doesn't show well in the photo.  I knew that I wanted to use unconventional Christmas colours, and I saw these papers/tags from Pink Paislee that I have had since the Spring and have really neglected them, so I indulged.  The tag was a great size to layer onto a piece of green pattern paper from the 6 X 6 Bayberry Cottage collection.  I used a long scalloped rectangle Nestability die for this and edged a little of my sketch end Copic along the scalloped edge and the tag edges that I had distressed with a T!m Holtz distresser tool.  I cut out the hobbyhorse image with some old deckled edged scissors and layered it onto the Labels one die cut lightbulbs frame.
I added some fun trim that I had in my stash from Ellen Hutson's shop to both ends of the tag.
For the top, I cut out a circular motif from one of the patterned papers and punched a hole in it, added it to the top of the tag and added 3 different colours(gray, blue, green) of various width and length ribbons to attach to the gift.  That's it!

Celebrate with JustRite!

Good morning everyone! Hope you have had a good start to your week so far.

JustRite has just announced a new design team member and a 2010 catalogue and it is available now! It shows some upcoming new, not yet released sets!! Can't wait to see them!

I finally had time to make another card and this one is for two challenges, the JustRite weekly #019 (to make a Christmas card) and Card Patterns sketch #65. I used this adorable little snowman from the Old Fashioned Christmas set and coloured with my Copic markers and added some sparkly black Spica to his eyes and mouth. His carrot nose was also filled in with the orange Spica pen for that special glitter. I used various Nestability dies for the circles and labels to layer him and the sentiment onto the card front. The little mittens are cut in the new PTI Hawaiin Shores card stock from a Sizzlits die I have in my Christmas/Winter stash and the white snowflake is an old punch. The smaller Hawaiian Shores stamped snowflake onto white cs is a SU set "snow fleurries" that I punched out with a 1/2" punch and put a tiny white brad in the center and attached to the punched white snowflake. I also added some clear Spica sparkle to the snowflakes and brads. All of the patterned paper is from PTI's newest called Beautiful Blooms. I love the red with this Hawaiian Shores aqua/blue.

Challenged just RITE

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend and were warm and cozy. It is starting to warm up a little here, and that is a very good thing;)

Here is another sketch challenge, this time from the Caardvarks site AND there is a wonderful JustRite prize associated with winning this one! Oh my, in my dreams...but here is what I came up with.

I used Bazzil and Basic Grey Bittersweet (yes, again) to make a simple, but elegant Valentine/Love/Anniversary card. The colours are soft and the little pink rhinestones add a nice amount of bling, without being too gaudy?

The sentiment is a JR as is the beautiful border. I stamped both of these in close to cocoa craft ink and clear embossed. The scallop in the beige?taupe card stock is a SU border punch and the pink one is a Martha Stewart one.

The little pink hearts are also MS and they took a little time to apply...I first used mini pop dots, but they proved to be too bulky and the hearts were not sitting just right (oops ~ no pun intended! ;) so I carefully removed and used about 1/4 of each pop dot for each heart.

Knitting my Mojo!

Here is my Mojo119 submission...a little lambie knitting. I made it for my friend, Michelle. She is, you guessed it, a knitter! I thought it would be a fun unexpected New Year's giftie to send to her.

I took my layout inspiration from Julee's

Mojo Monday 119 sketch, seen above. I knew that I wanted to use papers from an SEI pack that I picked up last month, Chick a Doo. I originally wanted to make this a calendar, but quickly realized that I would be covering up all of this pretty green lace so I put my Mojo cap on and came up with the custom blend skeins of yarn.

The little lamb image is a Rubber Soul stamp that I can't remember where I purchased, but I think it was at a local scrap booking store several years ago! I stamped the image in Memento tux. black and coloured with Copic markers. I placed her on a petite scalloped blue circle and added some dimensional foam to the back to give the little lamb a bit of pop. I then used (for the VERY 1st TIME and LOVED it!!!)a JustRite border stamp from the Deluxe round Monogram kit and cut it out with a scalloped circle Nestability. I layered a round green circle behind that and placed all on a larger blue circle from the same SEI Chick a Doo paper kit, very cute papers in this kit! I bought the charm on ebay and attached it with a strand of embroidery floss. The white floral panel has the looped edges on it from a MS border punch. I thought these were appropriate loops to use to resemble yarn loops and knitting stitches. The green jewels on the scalloped circle are from K and CO.
