Sending you...MCV

It's my turn for Muse: Christmas Visions !

I am going with some non traditional colours this time!  Greys and blues and a pop of Embossed red.
This week's card was inspired by a Christmas card that we received last year from a financial advisor and I wanted to recreate the penguins and the general organic and peaceful feel.  It was an all grey/black/white card that looked like a copy of a waddle of hand painted penguins.  Yes, a waddle, not a raft.  I have decided that they are standing on land and are not in water!
I wish that I could say that I free hand painted them, but not so!  haha!  I did some reverse engineering and cut the card up into two parts and using the parts as a template, painted fine lines around with the lightest grey Zig w/c brush onto Arches card and went from there.  The background was created with sponged distress inks and some colour was picked up with the water droplet method and a cloth, allowing some white of the card to show through.
This is not the first iteration, but the third...you see, I am not that talented when art presents in the form of drawing...or painting for that matter!
Anyway...I am pleased with the outcome and like the addition of my blues and the red sentiment.
I would love to make a bunch of these cards, but with a layering stamp!  Any stamp companies out there thinking of layered penguins?

I would love to see you in the gallery with a penguin or other critter or neutrals or whatever might inspire you this week!

Thanks for peeking in!

Can you believe it?  Just a little more than 6 months to Christmas!

Three for #2

Told you I would be back!
I saw the current cue word over at Casology and have lots of ideas to make cards with, as 3 is such a natural thing to gravitate to in our card making hobby!  I am using 3 NBUS items on this card and offering it up for Darnell's NBUS #2!  In my first ever order from SSS, I ordered this gorgeous Season's Greetings die (exclusive to SSS and entering for the Monday challenge) and decided to die cut in a rich red (Pure Poppy from PTI or Real Red from SU...I have them mixed up by mistake) and also die cut into my brushed silver card front and inlaid.  I am also using a brand new to me SU floral and matching punch set "Flower Shop" that I stamped in Versamark on vellum and used a Ranger brand red embossing powder and heat set.  3 of these for the Casology cue.  The centers in the flowers are rhinestone from SU from last Christmas that I had to have right then...this is the first time I have used them.
So, that's my card for these three challenges...
Thanks for stopping in-Chriss

Lovely Leaves

Happy Friday!
Just a quick post for now with an Autumn birthday and leaves theme.  I made the card with a single leaf stamp, origin unknown (maybe Making Memories).  It has such a fine detail in the veining, really beautiful!  I used SU inks (Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz, More Mustard & Cajun Craze) and PTI Canyon Clay. Just plain stamping and masking.
Simple as that.  The sentiment (Happy Birthday) is PTI that I cut apart and the Autumn stamp is a SU from a Season's set that I have had in my stash for quite a while.  Glad that I have held onto some of these older and very useful stamps!

I am linking up to the latest Curtain Call- Lovely Leaves
SSS Monday (Bold stamping) and SSS Wednesday Challenge to create a project with stamping on it.
Thanks so much for stopping by...have a wonderful day!
hugs, Chriss

CASEing Anita

Hi there!  Have you seen the date on the calendar...where has the Summer gone to?
I have been busy in the craft room, mostly organizing, you know, that on going evolution.  I sure hope that this present cycle continues strong as I feel very good about what I am accomplishing!  I do have a card for you today
(I have allowed myself some creative time to play :)) and it is a CASE of Anita's with a twist.  It is for the current Time Out challenge and I like the result.  What a pleasure it is to CASE this gal!  I must say that this was my third attempt...  As you can see, my twist involves a colour change.  During my reorganizing, I found some textured card stock from SU that I had hoarded.  I have since cut it up and it is now time to use...
I loved Anita's soft blues and greens and the white embossed pattern that she water coloured.  I didn't have anything quite the right scale or openness, so I had to think...I used a more narrow border stamp from SU and stamped twice with Versamark ink and then white embossed.  I used an Inktense pencil (bark colour) and a SU Cameo Coral re-inker, just about full strength.  I like the bark colour Inktense with this textured Groovy Guava CS.  I also wanted to triple layer my sentiment die, just like Anita, so I took a close up of that too.  I used a Memory Box die.  It is the Thank You die, but the actual Thank part has an s on it, so another bonus for me as I am really looking at my craft room "stuff".
I am of course offering this up for the Time Out challenge and also dipping into the Simon Say Stamp Monday Challenge "Anything Goes" and another try for the
Stamplorations "Stamps and Dies".

Thanks ever so much for your visit!
Hugs, Chriss
