Do you have lines?

So, Michele and I were having an early morning telephone chat yesterday morning and in our conversation, some beautiful cards were ooohed and aaawed over.  The one in particular that we were both gawking over was this beauty from Donna Mikasa

Well, we both wish for that new MFT Balloon Strings stamp, but it is OOS, so, what's a girl to do...!  We came up with a plan.  We challenged each other to substitute some kind of line stamp in our stashes and create a card based on Donna's.  This is a first personal challenge for us and I had some fun!  I had my Ellen's Essentials loopy line from the Merry and Bright set and put it to work.  I inked (not that easy when you are inking a single line onto watercolour card stock many times) and inked and then poured my white Ranger EP over to reveal my pattern, then heat set.  I thought that they looked pretty good and went ahead and embossed 4 others, 2 with gold and 2 with copper.  Then the watercolouring...not so happy with my first white embossed after the watercolouring, but a little more satisfactory after that first one.  I must admit, I tried to CASE Donna's, but after it was done, the amount of lines I had embossed were not enough for the number of colours that Donna's has.  Let's be truthful here...even if I had the same number of segments on my panel to fill, with the same colours as Donna, I don't think that I could come close to her beauty.
Here she is, and a second one with gold embossing.

So, what do you think of our little challenge?  Do you too wish you had that new stamp? Take a look at your "line" stamps and have a go!
Have a great day!
