I made a little Spring Poppy card today for the Copic Creations challenge and I used the SCS sketch 279. The Copic Creations challenge was to use Copic colouring on different surfaces. I had some red poppies in my garden and although the blooms are no longer, the seed pods are so very interesting and I wanted to use one for a flower center. When the pods are dry, they are like wood. They are a little difficult to work with because of the dimensional shape, so I chose a little one. I had originally coloured a larger poppy pod center, but when I attempted to remove it from the actual pod, it broke. I coloured it with Cadmium orange and edged the flower petals with the same. The flower petals were made with a blossom Spellbinder die and some woven tissue that I had in my stash of craft items that is supposed to be used for wrapping flower pots. (as in when you gift a plastic pot of planted flowers, the wrap that a florist might use) The sentiment is SU Well Scripted and the patterned paper is called Blossoms from Sassafrass Lass.
The leaves that I tucked under the edge of the poppy were punched with MS punches out of a thin cork sheet and I coloured those with Copic markers, pea green and apple green. All 3 surfaces that I coloured the Copic markers with worked quite well! I especially like the uneven coloured look of the petal edges and I really like the starry poppy pod center. Nice and organic.

Thanks for taking a peek today, I am off to do some yard chores...the list is long!
Have a great day,
