Happy Birthday Verve!

Welcome to the Anni-VERVE-sary Blog Hop! Verve turns three today and we’re celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! If you've already been hopping along, you arrived here from Tanis P's blog "all that rubbish"If not, head on over to Julee's Blog (owner of Verve), for all the info on how to win prizes (after all, what's a party without presents?), and to start hopping from the beginning. If there's a hiccup along the hop, you can always head to the Master Hop List to get the full list of links.
Happy Birthday Verve!!!
So many beautiful stamps to pick from, gorgeous flowers and the most profound and eloquent sentiments!
For today's special occasion,  I chose to use this  gorgeous Verve sentiment from the One Person set as the focal point.  I love Julee's font styles on this, it is so, so elegant.  I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto PTI vintage cream card stock and sponged around the words with SU River Rock classic ink with a dauber to give it a slightly antiqued look.  The frame is from Pink Paislee's Artisan Elements and I sponged this also with SU RR and a bit of Sahara ink.   I selected the Queen Bee 6 X 6 paper pad also from Pink Paislee.  I created a punched border with a MS punch and a very small scallop punch from EK Success that I layered to the left of the focal sentiment.
Above is a close up of the ivory flower that I made and the "ribbon" that I used is a Japanese one that I purchased at a local knitting store.  I sponged the tightly curled center of the flower with SU River Rock ink to tie in with the overall card colour theme.

Thanks for hopping by! Now it's time to hop on over to Janelle's Rain Puddles Design blog, for a little more Verve-y goodness.

Thanks so much for stopping by on this special anniversary!  Congratulations Julee!!!

Thinking about You

I am a little obsessed with this Pink Paislee "Queen Bee" line. I have 3 unopened packages and I have been working my way through the 1st. I love every patterned sheet and have even been saving scraps and using them! When I saw the latest Inchie sketch challenge, I knew I wanted to use these beloved papers.
Lisa noted all of the measurements right onto the sketch, so that made my creating a little quicker. Thanks Lisa!
Here we go,
All papers are from the Queen Bee line. The little squares are 7/8" and they are layered onto 1" polka dotted squares. I used a Label die for the darker patterned paper to create a frame for the stamped frame image (also Pink Paislee Queen Bee) that I stamped right onto the same yellow/chartreuse polka dot paper in SU basic gray ink. I fussy cut the stamped frame with a new pair of T!m Holtz Tonic scissors. I like the feel of them and the"notching action" they seem to have. I cut this out a little slower than I normally would have because it was the first time that the scissors were in my hand! The sentiment is from PTI that I stamped onto velum in the same ink and let dry.
My little bee is the largest from the QB set and I stamped it onto the same yellow polka dot and again onto a scrap of velum for the extra wings. I used a clear Spica pen to touch up the wings (although the sparkle doesn't show very much in the photo) and a black Spica to barely touch the black parts on the bee body and the eyes.
Thanks for taking a look, I truly appreciate your visit!
Have a great Friday night and week-end,
Chriss
