Mama and baby bird

It's Thursday and Fusion has their new challenge up. Heartful.
I love the inspiration photo that we have to work from and there are so many possibilities!  More ideas are running around and I may have to try my hand at another...
For this time around, I was attracted to the pewter embossed heart and that was my starting point.  I decided to make a Mother's Day card (it could also be a Valentine for a mom or even a sweet new baby...more ideas) and knew that I wanted to try my hand at a "paper cutting" look that has been turning up more and more these days.  Debby Hughes gave us a lovely sample in one of the Online Card Classes this week.  This seemed a perfect time for me to get going on this technique!  Instead of white paper, I used a pewter metallic that I have in my supplies and set out looking over the dies that I have with small or intricate cuts to them.  I die cut a bunch of different ones and started placing them in my heart opening.  the heart is a PTI die and I used it on one of my "special" stash papers, a white woodgrain embossed thin vellum that has a frosty look to the colour.  I had layered this onto a linen textured rose coloured card stock.  The Mom sentiment die is from Simon Says Stamp and I love this font.  The set comes with Aunt and Grandma, so good dies to have in my opinion.  So this is my first try with this technique.  It takes some time and patience, but I am determined to keep at this and try again.  I am also sending this card over to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping in today!
Hope the sun is shining down on you :)
