Good afternoon everyone! It sure is good to be home and in a more regular routine. Our community was evacuated Sunday Sept. 4th due to wildfires right in our community. We were allowed to return on Tuesday afternoon and we were very, very lucky that there was no damage to our home or any of the homes on our cul-de-sac.
We really are blessed to have such good friends calling and looking for us at shelters to offer up their homes! Birds, dogs and the 4 of us were all invited into a very warm and comfortable home!
I was supposed to leave for a fun filled week in Italy with two very dear girlfriends a week ago, but decided on staying here while the fires were not totally contained. Rome will be there next year :)
Now that I am back and into a little of a routine, I decided to use this clever sketch offered up on the Moxie Fab World blog to create a little Christmas card for a knitting lover!. I have been wanting to use this little lamb and sentiment from MemoryBox ever since I bought it a couple of months ago. When I saw the sketch, I knew I could make it work. I used this great Cosmo Cricket 6 X 6 plaid that I have been hoarding since it came out for the card front. I layered it onto a SU cherry Cobbler base after spongeing the edges with the same colour ink. I sponged the edges of the Spellbinder hexagons and stamped a small script SU Joy on one of them, used a Martha felt snowflake with a PaperTrey Ink aqua button on another, fashioned some knitting needles from some toothpicks I had and also made a little skein of "yarn" using crochet cotton. The MemoryBox sentiment is stamped in black craft ink onto a piece of artist canvas from an art book that I bought at Michael's. The little lamb was stamped on PTI cream and coloured with a garnet Copic marker, some white enamel for the fleece on the hat and I added little aqua rhinestones to the joy, hat pom pom and the I in Navidad. I finished it off with some more of the crochet cotton wrapped around the entire card front a few times. I really liked using this sketch for this themed Christmas card.
