THE CHEVRON CHIC CHALLENGE

The latest challenge on the MoxieFabWorld blog is to incorporate Chevron pattern onto a project, the Chevron Chic Challenge!  I am always interested in what these challenges are and Cath is such a great promoter of the latest trends spotting/highlighting and educating us.  Although I may not be the trendiest gal around, I do try to pay attention ;)
So I got all excited for this latest challenge...I knew it was coming and guess what...I don't have any Chevron striped stamps!!!  What to do...well I did have this embossing folder and I had some teeny tiny knitting needles and two colours of crochet cotton.  Thinking cap on and staying calm...
Here's what I made with the smaller in diameter than toothpick sized knitting needles.
The card stock used is Papertrey Ink Kraft and Jewel, the stamped lamb and knitting needles are Stampin' Up from the Hand Knit set and I printed the sentiment on the computer.  I used a Spellbinders Label 14 and the fancy rectangles for some die cut mats.  These were sponged in a matching ink.  I had the little metal crown in my stash.  Here it the card that I made...

Father's Day chef

Good morning!  It's been a little quiet on the blog front here, but I finally got a little time to make a couple of masculine cards.  I used a Flourishes stamp from the Mix n Match set (perfect for the chef Dad) and some papers from the Pyrus collection by Basic Grey.  I stamped the chef tools onto Papertrey Ink's vintage cream cs and coloured with Copic markers and a Zig silver pen, cut out.  The mug was stamped onto a PTI coaster board and coloured with Copics, stamped with the #1 Dad and cut out with my tonic scissors...I love these and use them for all of my "fussy cutting".  I used dimensional foam behind the cup and adhered to a Labels Eighteen cut from the BG paper.  I had some embroidery floss and tied around the front of the card before placing the image on the card front.

For the next masculine birthday card, I used Papertrey Ink's Through the Trees stamp and used the rock and roll technique on the trunk with two inks and also on the leafy top  but adding some dabs of the darker ink.  The ribbon is Stampin' Up's seam binding and the button is from PTI.  The green border die is a new one from MemoryBox.  Thanks for taking a peek, I hope to get some more cards loaded this afternoon ... :)

Tissue Box Hen

The Moxie Fab World blog has a tissue contest going on...Here is a card that I made for the challenge.  This is my Moxie Fab hen tissue box get well card :)
I started by stamping these darling Lockhart images and coloured with Copic markers.  I placed a slit on the hen's back and crumpled a little triangle of kraft coloured tissue...voila~ a tissue box with a little greeting that I made on the computer.  The paper is K and Co. and I used some vanilla seam binding to make a simple knot in for the top of the card.  I hope to make another card for this challenge as I think tissue is such a great element to work with.

Porcelain blue rose

Good morning!  How is the weather where you are?  Bringing Spring flowers to you ...I hope!  We have had some very warm weather here in Austin, but yesterday evening the temperature dropped 40 degrees!!!  It's in the 50's now, quite chilly for me :)  I'm not complaining, because I know that this will be very short lived.

Onto card business...I used the Mojo sketch, #189, from Verve and made this Mother's Day card for the contest going on this week.  I gathered some K and CO. papers from the old stash to create the fun and feminine greens and blues theme and used some Copic markers to colour the flower from the Verve set "One Person".  I stamped the flower twice and popped the center of one of them onto the full flower.  I also got to use some new-to-me Spellbinder dies, the eyelet square and the beaded circle to create some great frames/accents for this card.  Most edges were sponged with PTI Spring Moss and the border dies are a new Memory Box steel border die.  The sentiment is also from the same great set and I stamped it onto a ribbon die from a CuttleBug set that I have had for quite a while.  The bakers twine is Martha Stewart, very old in the stash, and a perfect match to these papers.  I finished the card off with a little layered hand cut banner and added some K and CO. green rhinestones.
