Buttons and seeds (beads that is!)

Hello everyone! I have been trying to make some birthday cards (some are overdue) to mail out to friends and family. I made this one and added a few to my ETSY shop. This card was created with a sketch from the 2sketches4you blog sketch #44 that I thoroughly had fun with. It's a great sketch, very versatile and I love the colour combo that I used from this Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper and the Ocean Tides from Papertrey Ink. The image is another adorable Baby Button Bits from PTI, not just for babies right?I stamped the image with PTI black ink and used a square Nestability die and then outline embossed with the tan mat in my CuttleBug and cut out a larger square in the Ocean Tides to later layer under the cream square. I coloured the little "petals" with my Ice Ocean Copic marker #BG72. I think it is a perfect match to this PTI colour. I added cream and Ocean Tides buttons to the stamped image and I actually sewed them to the cream panel with a matching embroidery floss. I stamped a part of the button bits image (the leaves) onto the same CC dp and cut the leaves out and added to the leaf part on the stamped image. I added a little piercing to the top left and bottom right corners of the panel. I then backed the
cream square onto the Ocean Tides with my dimensional foam.
The CC pattern paper was cut to the regular size card, but I then cut off a 1/4 " strip that I adhered to the bottom inside of the card. I used a MS border punch on the front of the ivory card base to make a scalloped edge and then I glued the pattern paper to the card front so that the shortened size of this paper front just lets the scallop edge just peek out at the bottom. I made another cream scallop border and layered it onto an Ocean Tides wide MS border and added these to the card front.
The square was then added to the front and positioned so that just partial scallops are seen directly under the square. I love how the button treatment on the bottom of the card turned out. I threaded the individual buttons and tied the embroidery floss and snipped, leaving just the tiniest "tails" except for on the central blue button which I snipped quite close after tying a knot. I added some crystal effects to the button top and then I placed individual seed beads in a circular pattern following the button rim. That's it for this one, all from a sketch and some amazing paper!

Card Patterns Sketch 48 Pink Hugs & Kisses

Here we go with another
sketch challenge for Card Patterns Sketch # 48. I loved using this sketch, and I made two very simple cards. I used Basic Grey's Bittersweet again, one card with pinks, the other with pinks and browns. I let the papers do the talkin'On the chocolate brown one I used my precious little Lockhart Valentine cupcake. It was coloured with Copics and then the pink hearts were glazed for some dimension. I love the pink and brown together. The pink card uses one of my Martha hearts that I punched out and embroidered with a matching pink embroidery floss. The little rhinestones on both of the cards are from my stash and the sentiment is from a SU set "Circle of Friendship".

Look who's new ~ My first PTI Blog hop.
Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great week-end! I have been busy with gardening and some cards. I wanted to make a baby card using my new Baby Button Bits that I bought from PaperTrey ink from the last release. I had a hard time selecting which image to feature for Papertrey Ink's blog hop tonight, because I adore them all! Anyway, I knew I wanted to make a card or announcement for a baby girl, so I went with the cutest baby bee stamp ever. I stamped the image twice because I wanted to layer the wings for dimension. They are coloured with a Copic marker and I went over the "veins" with a sparkly light plum gel pen. I cut out the image using my long rectangular Spellbinder die and layered the wings with dimensional foam. The Papertrey button (lavender Moon) has a piece of the new Papertrey 1/4" wide silk ribbon. Luscious! The white panel with image is layered onto a slightly larger PTI bitty dot paper and the card stock was placed through the CB with a Quickutz embossing folder (Retro Diamonds) to create some texture for the front of the card. The inside

of the card has a little special treatment that I created with a stamp from the Background Basics Diamonds set. I stamped in a pale plum ink that I had (I don't have the PTI lavender moon yet!) and

then placed a fancy tags label with another

length of the silk ribbon that I threaded through the label. I added two tiny pale purple rhinestones onto a couple of the white daisy shapes that I punched out and cut from a MS border punch. The bitty dot paper was stamped on with the "look who's new" sentiment from the same Baby Button Bits set in gray. The flap of the white envelope got a treatment too! I used the same border punch and the same stamp from the inside of the card. I am happy with the way it turned out! Thanks for looking!

Mojo122
I was so inspired by this paper from My Mind's Eye, I just love the colours in it!
I punched out a few hearts from the paper and glued them onto the narrow panel and punched out some smaller ones from the teal Bazzill card stock and arranged for some movement.
I had the idea to use these strung seed beads in place of the stem that the (hearts or petals?) are attached by, so I used some crystal effects to adhere. I stamped the sentiment and punched out with the small SU oval punch and placed behind the metal HP hardware. I added 2 K & CO. rhinestones in the same aqua/teal colour as the Bazzil and then placed it over the larger panel with some dimensional foam. There is a strand of the beads and a strand of embroidery thread wrapped around the bottom of the narrow panel. Hope you like these colours too! Thanks for a great sketch Julie!

Chicken Soup to feel better
Is everyone having a good start to the week so far? The weather here will be warmer for the week, and that is a very good thing according to me ;)
I made this card for a friend's husband. He had a major operation and will be recovering on a liquid diet for the next few weeks, so I thought these images were just the right thing. I stamped these cute Lockhart images in Momento Tux. black on ivory card stock and coloured with my Copic markers, cut out and popped up on dimensional foam. I am using sketch challenge #47 from Card Patterns. The front of the card and the green gingham are Farmer's Market Berry Street from DCWV again. I love the texture on these sheets. The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms Mona Lisa Moments "Get Well Centers" and I think the sentiments in this set are perfect for these Lockhart stamps! The green

MoxieFabColor challenge
I am feeling a little "punchy" from the latest MoxieFab Color challenge. We are to make a card using only these four colours. I assembled the 4 that I had for the closest match, and I thought. This purpley colour is not one of my faves, but it's really not that bad with the berry/pomegranate colour...is it?Time for me to come up with a design, any design. Sometimes I think I work much better with a sketch. Sketches are comfortable. Sketches have certain boundaries, but with some interpretation room. Well, this is what I came up with.
I used my Martha punches and just started playing with shapes. When I was a little girl, I had these painted wooden shapes of diamonds, triangles, squares and circles. The game was kinda like a puzzle where you could just create different images using the shapes. I played with it often and have fond memories of it, but they would be fonder if the shapes had been painted in a larger variety of colours. They were only yellow, green, red and blue.

Well, playing with the various shapes I had punched out last night did get some creativity going and I was able to assemble this layered flower from heart shapes and a flower CuttleBug die. Most of the paper is Bazzil, but I substituted what I had on hand for the closest match. I also finished the inside, an really good leftover influence from the last MFC I participated in!
Keep scrolling to see the inside of the card.

Vervey shapey card and treat box
Here is my Vervey treat box for VSJAN10B challenge! I started by covering the little tin I had with this 2 sided silver/red textured patterned paper. I made a topper from a scalloped circle and then a circle from the other side of the paper. I printed out Julee's digi heart and coloured with my red Copic and a silver marker. I added some little red rhinestones. The heart image is popped up on dimensional foam. This next little card is for VSJAN10E to make a shaped card. I used my Octagon and Peony shaped Nestability dies for this challenge. I stamped a Verve flower and coloured with Copics and added a purple rhinestone and also placed 3 more rhinestones over the Verve Smile sentiment. The greenery is punched from Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday. Thanks for taking a peek! The new release from Verve is tonight!

Regal Rhinestone Valentine

This is the first time I have made a card using a digital image. This on
e was provided by Julee over at Verve. It is available until tomorrow if you would like to download it. Isn't it beautifully detailed? The sentiment is from the same download. When I glimpsed at this Farmer's Market paper from a previous project, I knew I wanted to colour the heart in red and aqua. This is a close-up of the coloured heart. The heart and sentiment are much larger if you print as is, but I scaled them down to (25% I think) to get these sizes so they would fit as I wanted them on the card. It was easier to use than I anticipated!
I used the sketch provided by Teresa Kline for this special challenge of which there are 5 different ones going on for the release tomorrow night! I hope that I can complete the other two!
The "bow" I created for the ribbon is a CB die cut that I cut an end off of each cut and placed them together to form this bow. I topped it off with a large red rhinestone. I also placed tiny red ones right over the sentiment. Hope you like it! I am off to make dinner and then hopefully create another card.

"Beeting" Heart
Hi there!

everyone getting some challenges done? There are so, so many good ones to get in on this week! I am combining two on this card. I have used a piece of chipboard (under the heart on flower shape on chipboard) and that counts for one of the Verve challenges (VSJAN10C) to use a piece of chipboard. The other challenge is another that I really, really wanted to participate in when I saw it yesterday morning on the MoxieFabWorld blog. Cath has challenged us to create a "complete" card or inside and out. I must admit, I do not finish the insides of my cards, but boy oh boy, this was fun! My idea came from this great DCWD Farmer's Market paper I had with beautiful, richly textured and coloured beets and beet greens. I thought of making a valentine showing a heart on the front with "my" beside it, and then the sentiment inside reads Beets For You with a cute Lockhart stamp (it's actually a radish stamp, but let's please pretend it to be beets) The strip of paper on the front of the card is the Farmer's Market paper and the card base is SU Always Artichoke. The border punch is MS and these ivory seed beads were purchased at Hobby Lobby some time last year. The scored straight lines on the front and inside were made with my scoring blade and the rounded zig zag is a CB EF strip. I shaded the beets using Copics and cut them out and placed on a pop dot. A little goofy for my style...but that's the great thing with challenges isn't it? Gets you thinking differently and a little out of your comfort zone.
Thanks for peeking in today.

Glossy Pick-up trucks~Card Patterns sketch 46
Hello everyone out there. Hope you are having a good week so far. I had a great time with a friend today that I had not seen in a few weeks, We had lunch and visited a local kitchen shop. Fascinating and fun! I made a card yesterday morning and last night. They are both made with the SU pick-up truck that I have had for a number of years, but it is a fun one to play with. I needed a card for a friend's birthday, so I took a photo and sent off in the mail yesterday and then realized that if I made another and tweaked it a little, I could use it for 2 challenges!
The sketch challenge that this qualifies for is this photo for Card Patterns #46, details which can be found here. To make this, I stamped the truck on white with black craft ink, sprinkled black embossing powder and heated with the heat gun. I coloured with my Copic markers. I then added glaze with a blue tint to the window and windshield and added a clear glaze to the black part of the truck for a very swanky enamel job! I cut out the truck after the "enamel" was dry (at least 30 minutes) and put on the "hubcaps". They are look like Star of Texas ones! (SU) I had also stamped out the little packages on white with Memento Tux. black ink and coloured these with Copics. For the front panels on the card I cut a Bazzil textured 6 X 6 sheet of this grayish blue and cut in half. I used different embossing folders on each half and adhered to a black panel. I then hand cut a tag in both black and the blue and stuck together.

The little black glass tiles are a nice embellishment to a masculine card. This second card is one that I tweaked today to use for the Verve release challenge to make a card using black/gray/turquoise. VSJAN10C (Verve team, I hope this qualifies as turquoise?) I really like how this one turned out and the button wheels are PaperTreyInk buttons.
A lot of fun and I have so many more challenges to try tomorrow...Verve has 5 going on to complete by this Friday. I hope I can complete them all :o) Thanks for taking a peek tonight,

Challenged just RITE
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend and were warm and cozy. It is starting to warm up a little here, and that is a very good thing;)Here is another sketch challenge, this time from the Caardvarks site AND there is a wonderful JustRite prize associated with winning this one! Oh my, in my dreams...but here is what I came up with.
I used Bazzil and Basic Grey Bittersweet (yes, again) to make a simple, but elegant Valentine/Love/Anniversary card. The colours are soft and the little pink rhinestones add a nice amount of bling, without being too gaudy?
The sentiment is a JR as is the beautiful border. I stamped both of these in close to cocoa craft ink and clear embossed. The scallop in the beige?taupe card stock is a SU border punch and the pink one is a Martha Stewart one.
The little pink hearts are also MS and they took a little time to apply...I first used mini pop dots, but they proved to be too bulky and the hearts were not sitting just right (oops ~ no pun intended! ;) so I carefully removed and used about 1/4 of each pop dot for each heart.
Thanks for peeking in today, I surely do appreciate the visit ,

Bittersweet Cupcake
Hello again everyone. Hope you are all enjoying your week-end. It has been record cold here in Austin! I am staying inside and keeping warm and crafting a little ;)This is the latest challenge that I attempted. It is from Taylor VB. I don't have any of Taylor's stamps just yet, but wanted to work with this fab sketch she put out there, so here it is...
I am in the Valentine mode right now and enjoying this same paper pack from last year, Basic Grey's Bittersweet. I love the rich colours and I'm pretty sure that this won't be the last card you will see that I create using this pretty dp. The card base is a textured Bazzil chocolate, layered on top of that is SU Pirouhette Pink, the stripe from Bittersweet and another square of the flourished pattern from Bittersweet. The little cupcake (a new Lockheart that I bought from Ellen Hutson last week) was stamped in SU
basic brown and coloured in with my Copic markers and then I glazed the hearts. Don't know if you can tell from this photo, but they pop out a little. The cupcake was then placed on a petite scalloped circle and that was placed on a CB heart die shape.
I made the little tag and cut out the stamped SU phrase hugs & kisses and arranged on the tag. I had this length of fine brown twine that I wrapped around the card front before I attached to the card base and tied this teeny-tiny bow, that took a couple of tries :) Thanks for peeking in,

A plum treasure!
Happy New Year everyone! Thanks for stopping in today and I apologize for the lack of posts. I thought I would have had more time this 1st week of the year for paper crafting...well only in my brain. My first challenge in the New Year...finally! I am so behind in challenges but have been busy, busy with organizing (not in my stamp room yet, I have a very dear friend that will be donating some of her very precious time to help me) a guest bedroom, emptying / painting the laundry room / the pantry etc. Last night was the first time I had found an hour to actually create a submission for Julee's Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I really appreciate those of you that have been checking in, so here goes with this plum coloured "Treasure" card. I created the card base with some Bazzil textured card stock (the name of this colour is San Francisco) and I applied a 1/4" smaller K and CO. paper over that. I cut out a 3 1/4" square of PaperTrey Ink Lavender Moon card stock and ran it through a CB "Exotic Flowers" embossing folder. The Verve flower image was stamped in SU Elegant Eggplant ink and coloured with Copic markers, cut out and placed on dimensional foam and applied to various layers of the cs and papers used throughout the card. The patterned paper is a Basic Grey from the Indian Summer 6 X 6 pack. I applied some lavender rhinestones to "bling it up"
All images stamped are from the Verve "Believe" set that Julee created last year. I love this set! The lavender twill is from a Basic Grey package that I purchased at a local SBS last year. It is a perfect match to PTI's lavender moon. The teeny scallop at the bottom of the pattern paper is an EK punch. I thank you for stopping in, peeking and leaving a comment! Have a great day,
I think I may have some more time today to create another card...
Cheers!
