Red, white, blue and JustRite!

Hello everyone! I'm back with a challenge card, finally ;)
This one took me a while, even though it turned out quite simple, without a lot of layering. I started with this great challenge from JustRite JR024, the requirements being a red/white/blue theme and a sketch that was provided by the JustRite team. I selected this image from "Stitched with Love" and coloured with my Copic markers and a glittery Spica on the needle and pins. The sketch has oval shapes and so I chose this great oval border from JustRites "Breath of Spring" and stamped in Versamark and sprinkled with a rich red EP and heated. I then used a classic oval Nestability to cut out the frame and then selected another smaller one to use on the coloured image. I sponged some red around this smaller oval and popped it up on foam and set in the middle of the larger frame oval. For the panel,
I cut out a rectangle with scissors from a hanker chief that I had purchased at Hobby Lobby. I frayed the edges by tugging at the single fibers and then stitched it onto the dp card front with some red thread. I added a red satin ribbon at the bottom and tied a simple knot and notched the ends into a V. To that, I layered 3 buttons that I used the same thread in the buttonholes. I adhered the focal image to the fabric panel with fabric tacky glue, choosing not to stitch the oval with thread, because I did not want to mess up the embossing ;) The challenge ends tomorrow, Thursday morning at 9 am CT, so you still have time to join in...
That's it! Thanks for peeking in. Hope that you have a great day!

APearly anniversary wishes

Second card today, two challenges! Love that.
Combining the SFYTT and the inspiration photo from the City Crafter's challenge blog, I came up with this anniversary card.
I had these gorgeous Heidi Grace papers that I thought fit the inspiration challenge to a "t", pink and purple flowers and pearls. I used the SU birdie punch to create the bird above the pretty Verve sentiment. I had the lace in my stash and added some pearls to the points of this teeny and narrow lace. The purple cone flowers are some that I purchased a while ago from the UK at this shop and the larger pink flower is a Prima that I had and I used my sponge dauber to brush along the edges in SU perfect plum. Another very easy card!

Birthday Wishes

Hello everyone! I have been absent for a little while and have really missed my stamping and posting. I so appreciate all of the kind thoughts and comments about my mom. My sister and I found a great place for mom to live and she will get the care she needs there. I feel really good about that and we will reassess the situation as the months go by...
For my first card that I created after my return I used Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety 6 X 6 paper pad. This card was created for a dear friend that I worked with for 5 years at Smith and Hawken and it is a very rare week that we do not see each other.
I paired the CC papers with a PTI sentiment and this adorable Lockhart colander full of cherries stamp that I stamped in Memento Tuxedo black and colored with Copic markers and added some crystal effects to the cherries for a nice gloss and dimension. The border is a MS punch.
Easy Peasy, Berry Cherry!
Thanks for taking a peek!

Sunshine and blue skies challenge

Hi there everyone! It has been a busy week for me as I am getting ready to travel to Montreal to help my sis find an assisted living place for our mom. She had a stroke in March and is not able to live alone at this moment...
I have not made any cards this week, except for this one last night for the Flourishes "Sunshine and Blue Skies" challenge. It truly was a challenge for me, as I do not use these colours too often and never really reach for them.
Here it is, using K and Co. dp for the background and punched yellow MS Quilted Edge border panel. The two circular lacey "flowery clouds" were cut from another K and Co. dp and I added some lemon PTI buttons threaded with blue embroidery floss. The Chrysanthemum Flourishes image is from my beloved Flowers for a Year set from Flourishes. I coloured with Copic markers and cut out, using the petite ovals dies. I added the yellow flourish that I cut with a Sissix die and used a blue pearl to join the two flourishes together.
That's it....
I'm looking forward to seeing my family over the next 10 days and I will be back home in Austin, trying to catch up on all of the stamping world news ;)
Thanks for visiting!
