Pink daisy Mother's Day cupcake

Taylor's cupcake challenges are something that I like to participate in.  While you don't have to use a cupcake stamp, to quote Taylor "If you've got 'em, why not use 'em"!  While I don't have many cupcake stamps, I do have three of them.  I love my little violet cupcake Lockhart stamp, (as anyone who may have seen a post or three with the stamp knows;)  I did however decide to use a cupcake stamp from SU's Crazy for Cupcakes set (the cupcake liner part at least) and I topped it off with a SU group of flowers image from Blooming with Love.  This group of flowers stamp is meant to fit in the wheelbarrow image of the same set, but I wanted to create my own cupcake topping for this Mother's Day card.  Hope you like it!  Taylor provided this great sketch and this is my interpretation of it.

VS release April

There is a new stamp release party tonight over on the Verve Forum at SCS and Julee issued this challenge earlier this week.  Three sketches and one colour challenge.  You can win the new release!  I hope that random integer thingy picks me!  Here goes!
VSAPR1
Not much stamping on this one!  I used a new frog
punch to punch out these frogs!
stamp SU Unfrogettable
paper         K & Co dp, SU old olive, not quite navy
access EK frog punch, SU slot punch, square nesties, olive rib.

Colour challenge (soft yellow, blue and brown)  VSAPR4
I had fun stamping these little sheep from
Rubbernecker stamps new Easter inchies set
I stamped my image in chocolate chip craft ink on the dp and embossed.  Cut it out and mounted on an ivory linen and then baja blue swiss dotted and then close to coca.  The little sheep were coloured with a beige copic and then vanilla craft ink with a blender pen. The  blue dotted dp is from Chloe's closet and the striped is from SU.

VSAPR3

Love these rich colours together, and I must say,
I think it has become one of my favourite colour
combos. I used dew drops for the centers of the
flowers and for the trio on the bottom right hand
corner of the image panel. I so love this Verve Floral Symphony set!
I used my MS lace punch and new EK pierced scalloped punch

I can't wait for tonight to see what new sets will be available!

CPS111 Happy gardening day

In keeping with my gardening theme, here is my latest creation.  A really simple one and I borrowed the layout from Card Positioning Systems sketch #111.
I had this cute gardening apron from Jolies and thought it would look good against a kraft background, so my card base is SU kraft and the papers are from a 7 gypsies paper pack that I have had for a couple of years!  Talk about hoarding......  I stamped a stitched leaf vine from a clear Basic Grey set and from the same set, the flowers on the right hand side of the card.  These were stamped in SU old olive and I took my SU ruby red marker and did some "doodling"/filling in on the flower centers (hard to see from the photo).  The flower embellishments are Primas that I coloured with Prismacolor markers in umber and cardinal.  I used some BG brads from the Archaic pack that my friend Yvonne gifted me with.  The sentiment is from an old SU set "Nice and Narrow" and I layered it on the same 7 gypsies dp.  Thanks for taking a peek.

Charming gardeners' SFYTT

Jen del Muro has a fun "Sketch For You To Try" over on her blog I{heart} to Stamp blog (see it at the end of this post).  This one came together very quickly for me.  When I saw the sketch, I knew exactly what I wanted to use as a theme (gardening) AND Jen is planting her gardens at her home.
The only thing I would change would be this background paper. I originally chose it because of the colours, but I think I will make another with richer colours and a less busy background. (stay tuned for that one, hope you won't be bored with the same card!)

Thanks for taking a peek!
Thanks Jen for a really fun sketch!!!

Pink Thank You WSC76

Here is my try at the WSC.  This took me a lot longer than I would like to admit!  The colours and papers that I started with are not these ones...anyway, the papers are from Basic Grey "Bittersweet" and the chenille border is from MM.  I thought it went nicely with the soft patternd paper and I cut out the bottom flowers from the bittersweet paper.  Not much stamping, just a SU sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek.

Mojo81 ~ Bloom where you are planted ~

Julie's mojo sketch made me a little nervous this morning, but here is my take on it.  I really loved the colours of these dp's AND had Copic markers that I thought complimented the paper, so here goes!  I chose these rich dp's from K & Co. (the big classic box) and went from there.  I stamped the flowers (Julee's Floral Symphony VERVE set) in SU pumpkin pie and coloured in with my Copic markers.  The panels on the card are layered onto the beautiful pumpkin coloured dp (same as the one the sentiment is stamped onto) and the two main panels are layered onto the floral teal and orange dp.  I had some special Primas that were the same rich colours and added a K & Co. teal jewel to the center of one at the top left corner and the center of the other flower has a special little floral button that I bought at Michael's last week.  Thanks for taking a peek!
cheers, chriss

TECC62 oh violets!

This is my first try at the Cupcake challenge over on the Taylored Expressions blog,  Taylor had a new stamp release yesterday (2 new sets and some other fun items)and they look really versatile.
For this challenge I used my very favourite little violet cupcake stamp from the Lockhart company.  I don't have any of Taylor's cupcake stamps sets...yet.  I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured with my Copic markers.  I used my circle and scalloped circle nesties to mount the cupcake image on and the dp I used were a purple polka dot from Michael's (unknown) and a K & Co yellow dp from the classics big box.  I also used a Sizzix flourish die.  The pretty satin ribbon was a complimentary gift from Ellen H. when I bought the cupcake stamp!  Thanks for taking a peek and have a great Monday!

mojo 80 {again}

I really like the last sketch from Julee's Mojo 80 that I have made another card using this sketch.  I love this little flower cupcake and enjoy colouring it different colours to make it into another type of flower.  It is meant to be a violet, but today we are pretending these are nastursiums.  I outlined these with my SU pumpkin pie marker and then filled in with Copic CREAM YR21 and did a little hi lighting with ATOLL YR65 and dotted the centers with COOL SHADOW BG10.  The cupcake liner was colored with warm gray and then I layered COOL SHADOW BG10  I added some crystal effects to these dotted centers for my dear friend Yvonne.  She would consider this  "completed", a little finishing touch,  and I am pretty sure I would have her approval ;)

Marrakech & Topiaries

Here are a couple of cards using the yummy Marrakech line from Basic Grey.  I used the same SU image from Blooming with Love.
I borrowed the CPS sketch #109 again for this first card and just went with a really standard kind of layout for the next one.

     Thanks for taking a p{{k !

Hi There C&S for Mojo #80

I really like how clean looking this card turned out.  The white with the Always Artichoke contrast makes an impact (in my humble opinion) This is for Julee's Mojo Monday, #80!  Wow, that's a lot of sketches to share.  Thanks for another really good one Julee. I really had fun today with my new Spellbinders Label Three dies.  I think they look so good, especially embossed.  I also experimented somewhat with my Copic markers and I do like the results of the container colours.  Those Copics are like magic ;))

Donna's Butterfly

It's my very dear friend's birthday tomorrow.  She is in the Toronto area and I am in Austin, so she won't get this on her birthday, but that's ok because she is on a cruise with her family for her 50th!
We will see each other at the end of May and celebrate then...oh my...we have known each other since we were 2 years old.  The sketch is borrowed from Card Positioning Systems #109.  Here is my card for Donna's 50th.  The colours are inspired from this beautiful Basic Grey Marrakech dp.  I used my new Peony Nesties from Spellbinders that I embossed with 2 of the smaller peony dies and the tan mat from Spellbinders (cant't really see in the photo) for the butterfly mat.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Masculine birthday-Jen Tapler's Blogoversary

Jen Tapler Designs is having a a giveaway on her blog  to celebrate her first year of blogging.  She is also collecting cards for the Alzheimer's Assoc. in connection with this give-away.  Such a worthy cause and I wanted to participate, so here is one of the cards that I will be sending to her in Hawaii!
I decided to make a masculine birthday card, as I am not in the practice of making very many of them, and maybe other card makers lack a little in this category too?  Anyway, here it is.  I am mailing it today (with a couple of others)Thanks for taking a peek
