Weekend Sketch Challenge #74

Here are a couple of cards that I made for the Weekend Sketch Challenge. (Beate don't look!)  I ordered some Memory Box paper pads from Ellen Hutson this last week and I really like the quality and this tiny floral pattern, even though it is purple. I used a sage colour Prima textured paper to layer onto a white cs base and layered my panels with SU eggplant and another MB mottled dp from the same paper pack (Poppyfinch).  I used the CB flower dies for some of the flowers, Prima flowers, jewels from K & Co., SU eggplant ribbon and a Verve stamp from the Floral Symphony set.  These cards came together really easily and quickly.  Thanks for taking a peek,

Baby Boy Blessing

This is a sweet card to celebrate a new baby boy.  I don't have a need for it right now, but I would really love to build up my card reserve for all of the special occasions in life, so this one will be in the reserves...I paper pieced the little sailboat and knee patches.

I made it for CPS sketch challenge 108.  I thought it would be the perfect layout.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Easter Seeds for Verve Project Parade

Here is my finished Easter project for the Verve "Project Parade".  It is not a typical Easter gift that we would think of at first, and believe me, I love chocolate!  It is a covered wooden tea box with seed packets inside to celebrate Spring and new beginnings.  Of course, you could fill this up with yummy chocolate eggs too ;)

The pics show the box before I covered with this yummy BG paper, a close up of the little card enclosure, an opened box with the seeds and the finished "all put together" for giving.  I used Julee's Floral Symphony as my inspiration.  Really easy.  I cut out my green BG solid paper to fit all of the sides of the box, glued with crystal effects.  The tiny strips on the edges are also BG Urban Prairie from the 6 X 6 pack (love the miniature patterns!)  I cut a wide band from both of my BG UP 6 X 6 sheets and glued together to make a longer band to fit around the tea box. Thanks for taking a peek!

Floral Symphony Spring and Summer

I made these 2 cards for Julee's Mojo sketch, week 78.  I had a lot of fun with these new flowers of hers called Floral symphony.  This 1st card is my Spring card with the glittered butterfly and the other is my Summery card.  The papers used for both of the cards are from the BG Marrakech pack, very rich colours and I like them!  The chenille daisy border is a new product from me that I ordered from Ellen Hutson earlier this week (fast shipping with Ellen's company and SO carefully wrapped/packaged) and it is very luxurious.  All the flowers were stamped in SU! pumpkin pie and coloured with my Copic markers.  I haven't added any new ones to my collection, so I apologize if you are getting tired of the same family of colours. I love the font that Julee used to make the sentiments, just the right amount of a little flourish with some of the letters.  It's really a fun set and one that I will use over and over.  The flowers are just so much fun to colour in!

Little Boy Birthday

Here is my interpretation for the Verve sketch challenge for week 3.  This came together very quickly and, I must admit, hardly any stamping.  Just the sentiment was stamped!  That hardly ever happens, as it usually takes me longer than an hour to fashion a card, but this was super quick!  Thanks for taking a peek!

Floral pink and green

Here is my very pink, green and red card for the Verve challenge for March, #2.  We were to use the sketch and had to use any shades of pink, green and red.  I really dreaded this combo and that is why I had not tried to make it before today, but I am really pleased with how it turned out!  The Prima and the ribbon match perfectly and I took inspiration from the tiny ferns in the floral dp by using the tiny fern stamps in Julee's Abundant Blessings stamp set to make the ruby red "veins" in the fronds.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Cheers, chriss

Sweetest Birthday

Here are a couple of cards that I made for Roxie"s sketch challenge over on Splitcoast. Thanks for another great sketch!
This first card is awaiting a sentiment (Mother's Day) that should arrive in the mail tomorrow. The stamp is called Nested Teacups from Impression Obbsession.  I ordered a few of their new ones last week and I am really having fun playing with them! I coloured the image with the Copics that I have, so was limited somewhat (I need to get a few more of these markers ;)  The background of these cards are actually strips of dp that I thought complimented the cards in their colour combinations.  This second card actually does not have any real stamping on it, other than the sentiment and the ice cream "cup" part.  I stamped the back of a Starbucks coffee sleeve in creamy caramel from SU! with the SU! bg Aida Cloth stamp.  The papers are BG from the Cupcake paper pad and the "ice cream" is glazed with crystal effect and then sprinkled with MS glitter and propped up on a dimensional.  The flowers are Prima with a Queen & Co. orange freckled brad.  The swirl is a Sizzix die.

Potted Impatiens

Julee from Verve is having a release party tonight.  If you haven't seen the previews, take a peek at the Verve blog.  Looks like some really beautiful stamp sets are on the way.  This is a sketch that was posted yesterday to win a set.  I had fun making this card and it came together very easily.  I first chose my image and then went to my new BasicGrey Pocelain dp & removed a few pages.

So easy to get a card together with these 6 X 6 paper pads.  I stamped my image in Memento tuxedo black right onto the dp and coloured with Copics.  I am a newbie when it comes to using these that I just bought last week (the pastels set) so it had to be real simple colouring, as you can see.  I stamped the bees from the same set onto velum and coloured theses too with a Copic and also applied pearl white Lumiaire to the wings.  I cut out the potted image and mounted onto a square of the same sheet of Porcelain and then framed that with a square of the beautiful "zig zag" dp.  I also added towards the bottom of the card, some K & Co adhesive paper ribbon that I thought went well with this vintagey feel and then took a strip of the polka dotted Porcelain paper and made a scalloped edge to place over that.  That's it.  Thanks for taking a peek! Violet cupcake

This is my card for the Verve sketch challenges...w/a twist.  This is last week's challenge (we have until the end of the month)and the twist was to use buttons with the sketch.  This is my 1st time to use buttons, and I could not find my button container that I have been squirreling away for years now, but like a good crafter, I had a little SU set of pastel coloured buttons.  I opened these up and found some dp that I thought the buttons would be complimentary to, so...here it is!

Here is the close up of the beautiful little violet cupcake that I have really fallen hard for.  It has become one of my very favourite stamps.  So many possibilities!
The stamp is from Lockhart Co. and I purchased it from Ellen Hutson's shop.  I stamped the image in Memento tuxedo black and used my Copic markers.  I also stamped again on velum with craft white and embossed and cut the top off and glued right onto the stamped image.  I wanted it to resemble the paper cupcake liner.
Thanks for taking a p{{k! Ch{{rs chriss

Abundant Blessings -Mojo76

Here is my card for Julee'e Mojo sketch week 76.  There is a contest going on for this week's winners.  Yes, there will be more than one winner!
I really like this BG Urban Prairie dp and decided to go with it.  The name of the patterned page is Harvest and I used a Verve image and sentiment "Abundant Blessings" that I thought were very appropriate for this card.  The card base is a retired SU! In Color

Caribbean blue and I also used this cs for the central image square and to border the sentiment and long centered panel.  The yellow is from the Urban Prairie pack also and I ran both of those pieces through the CB with the Fantasy Floral embossing folder.  I stamped the image and sentiment in Bayou Blue (also retired)  and wanted just a little more Mojo, so I added a perfect shade of MS glitter to all of the little "buds" on the stamped image.  The image is mounted on a square Caribbean Blue panel that I also cut and embossed with the square Nestabilities and the tan embossing mat.  That square panel is mounted onto the same "Harvest" patterned paper, but from the 6 X 6 pad, so in miniature.  This was my first time to use my dew drops that I purchased from Ellen Hutson and they are from a color called Cowboy.  The white ribbon is SU white taffeta.  I like the way it all came together and thank Julee for another great sketch.

Sparkly berry happy birthday

Here is my interpretation for Jen del Muro's SFYTT.  Click on the link to the right for more details on her blog i{heart}tostamp. She is having a little contest! I had a lot of fun making variations of this birthday bird.  I am loving this Urban Prarie from BG, so cheery and fun.  I stamped the bird from SU! "a little birdie told me" set right onto the dp and cut out.  The background green from Bazzil was put through the floral fantasy CB folder.  Love, love, love the ferns in this folder!  The flower is a prima paired with a CB die flower that I used some of the same dp and the center of the flower is also cut out from the dp.  I guess you can tell that I really do love this BG Urban Prarie ;)  I am starting to be more comfortable in selecting /making embellishments for my cards and at the last minute, I decided that the berries needed a little something, so...I reached for some MS glitter.  I like the way the card turned out.  Let me know what you think and big thanks to you for taking a p{{k!
